WORKERS' CHANGING ROOM

Before heading out to the salt pans, production facilities or workshops, the workers of Ulcinj Salina passed through this space. The workers’ changing room was where they prepared for their shift – leaving their everyday clothes behind, putting on their work gear and beginning another day at the saltworks.

But the changing room was more than just a functional space. It was a place for meetings, conversations and the everyday stories of the people who together shaped life at the Salina. Here, information was exchanged before work began, tasks were arranged and moments of rest were shared after long shifts.

Especially during the salt harvest season, when the entire system operated at an intensive pace, this space was part of the daily routine of a large number of workers whose efforts kept production running.

Today, the workers’ changing room preserves the memory of the most important part of the Salina – its people. Because behind every kilogram of salt stood not only machines and natural processes, but generations of workers whose labour and knowledge shaped the history of this place.
