ELECTRICAL SUBSTATION

With the Salina, the industrial age also arrived in Ulcinj.

During the construction of the Salina, from 1927 to 1934, a large transformer station was also built in the industrial zone. Modern salt production required a stable supply of electricity.

The transformer station supplied power to the production facilities, pumps, workshops and other buildings within the industrial zone. Without electricity, it would not have been possible to manage the water, operate the equipment or maintain the daily rhythm of the factory.

This building shows how salt production combined a natural process with the modern technology of its time.

The project is implemented by the Dr Martin Schneider-Jacoby Association – MSJA,
with the support of the Tourism Organisation of Ulcinj Municipality.
