COMPRESSOR STATION

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Ulcinj Salina entered a new phase of development. With the construction of a factory for the industrial processing of salt, a period of modernisation began, aimed at improving production and introducing more advanced technological processes.

As part of this new system, a compressor station was also built. Its role was to provide the compressed air required for the operation of equipment and certain technological processes in the new factory.

Although it was not part of the traditional process of producing salt in the salt pans, the compressor station represented an important link between the old and the new Salina – between production based on sun, wind and seawater and industrial processing intended to open up new possibilities.

Today, this building preserves the story of a period when Ulcinj Salina was expanding its capacities, introducing new technologies and developing into one of the significant industrial systems in what was then Yugoslavia.
