PACKAGING WAREHOUSE

The packaging warehouse was primarily used to store the different types of packaging required for salt. Sacks, boxes and other materials needed to ensure that the salt reached customers safely were stored here. When necessary, this space was also used for part of the salt grinding and packaging process.

During periods of increased production, the warehouse had an additional role – it was used to store bulky goods and materials that could not be accommodated in the Central Warehouse. In this way, it provided important logistical support for the Salina’s daily operations.

Sacks and packages bearing the name of the “Bajo Sekulić” Ulcinj Salina carried the name of Ulcinj throughout what was then Yugoslavia.

Each package represented the end of a long process that began with seawater entering the Salina’s salt pans. Behind it were months of work, the knowledge of generations of salt workers, and the carefully coordinated interaction between nature and people.

This building reminds us that salt production did not end with the harvest. On the contrary, behind every package was the work of a large number of people – from water-management workers and workers in the salt pans, through laboratory experts who monitored product quality, to those who prepared the salt for its final step – the journey from the Salina to the homes of millions of people.
