HANGAR

The raw salt hangar was one of the key points along the salt’s journey through the factory.

After harvesting, the raw, unprocessed salt was transported from the salt pans to the washing basin and then transferred by a fixed conveyor into the large hangar. Here, it was temporarily stored before continuing its journey to the processing facilities, where it passed through the next stages of processing and preparation for the market.

The size of the hangar still bears witness to the former scale of production at Ulcinj Salina. Inside, a unique reminder of that time has also been preserved – a small mound of salt from the final harvest in 2013.

More than a decade after production ceased, it still stands in the place where the final part of Ulcinj salt’s journey once began, from the crystallisation ponds to the finished product.

The project is implemented by the Dr Martin Schneider-Jacoby Association – MSJA,
with the support of the Tourism Organisation of Ulcinj Municipality.
